Summary: Andrew E. Crane was a carriage-maker in New Orleans and a planter in St James Parish, Louisiana. Crane entered a partnership with C. R. Kuneman in 1864 to cultivate a plantation. A relative, Zachary Crane, was a Justice of the Peace in the 3rd Ward of St James Parish and a president of the St Michael Corporation.</p><p>These materials relate to Crane's purchase of a plantation in St James Parish in 1849 and its subsequent cultivation and include correspondence, steamer bills of lading, receipts for merchandise and statements from merchants.
